  1. Who we are

Why Support Us

Choosing a charity to fundraise for can be a very personal decision. We know there are lots of charities and lots of very worthy causes out there, and so we really appreciate it when people choose to support us.

We support over 8,000 local people every year who are struggling with their mental health. In 2020 this number has significantly increased – to well over 10,000 – due to the effects of the pandemic.

We’re passionate about making sure everyone can get help.

The North East of England has the highest rates of suicide than any other part of the country. One in five local children are suffering from poor mental and emotional health, which is higher than the national average. So now more than ever, people in our local communities need access to mental health support and services.

The money you raise supports our organisation to reach the people who need our help the most.

The people who fundraise for Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind have told us some of the reasons why they chose us as their charity:

“Lots of people in my family and some of my friends have been affected by mental health issues, and I understand how important it is for people to get access to the help they need” 34 year old woman

We believe in recovery and supporting people to make choices that mean they can live their best possible life, regardless of any mental health diagnosis they may have.

“I see lots of people struggling with mental health in my day to day work, and this is my way of doing a bit to make a difference” 40 year old man

We support people from all walks of life, we don’t judge and we get to know who they are as individuals. These are the reasons people like to come to us for help.
