Fundraise for us Fundraising stories marathons and mental health It’s a challenge in itself to run a marathon but what about running 9 over one year? Emma Barnes is hoping to achieve just that. From September 2018, she is pushing herself to the limit by running six half and three full marathons for Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind. Over 100 miles for better mental health! “I have family who have experience of mental ill-health and I’m hoping by setting myself this huge challenge, I can let everyone know they are not on their own. If my friends or family are struggling, they know that this local charity is here to support them”. “Mental health needs to be talked about more, people shouldn’t feel the need to bottle things up. Its okay not to be okay”. This is the first fundraising challenge the charity has ever come across, someone who will commit to running over 100 miles across the country to raise awareness. Emma has raised money for other charities through previous marathons and hopes to raise even more money for a personal cause. Her challenge starts with the Redcar half marathon on 30 September followed by Manchester on 14 October. You can follow Emma’s journey or if you would like to donate, on her Just giving page.
